You will need the following supplies when doing Bee Venom Therapy. We are listing some suppliers below but not our usual supplier of live bees, at their request for anonymity. If you want the contact info for live bees, you can ask someone in our FB group to send this info to you in a private message. The bees cost approximately ten cents per bee plus additional shipping charges.
EpiPen – MANDATORY, NO EXCEPTIONS! Do not sting yourself with a live bee unless you have an unexpired EpiPen at the ready. You will need a doctor’s prescription for this. Once you fill the prescription, please read the instructions ahead of time. Also 2-3 bottles of children’s liquid Benadryl.
You will need some kind of container for your honeybees- I use a plastic jar with a wide mouth. The lid needs to have holes for air. This is an inexpensive way to start. You can also use a mason jar, with a screen lid. Some people like to use Bee Condos, or a Bee Buddy. Suppliers for those are listed at the bottom.
Reverse Tweezers – I recommend that you purchase at least 2 pair of these tweezers. Often you will use one tweezer to grab the bee by the head or upper thorax and the second tweezer can be used to re-position the bee if necessary. I like to catch all my bees at once in advance, and line them up along a table until I am ready to use them. That way I can ice the area first and then sting. If you want to do that, you will need one tweezer for each bee you are planning to use. Some people buy their tweezers on Amazon. Others, order their tweezers from the live bee supplier. These reverse tweezers should cost between $3 – $8 dollars a pair. The tweezers from the CA supplier are very gentle and don’t crush the bees and are under $4.
Spray Bottle – This can be bought at any drugstore or dollar store. It is important that is has a setting for misting. If you overspray the bees, they may die prematurely. The only time we mist the bees is to help us catch them more easily.
Regular Tweezers – You need these to pull stinger out sideways along the skin.
Vitamin C- MANDATORY, NO EXCEPTIONS! You must be taking a minimum of 3,000 MG every single day, even on non-sting days. It is OK to take more than 3,000 MG, as long as your body can tolerate it. I realize that some people have trouble with their stomach when they take high doses of Vitamin C. If you are one of those people, you may have to search around to find a brand you can tolerate. This experimentation should be done before you start BVT. Some people like Ester- C. Others prefer liposomal C or a buffered version. It is ideal to use a time-released Vitamin C or to take 1000 MG three times per day. Vitamin C is a raw ingredient for the adrenal glands to make cortisol. The adrenal glands need to make this cortisol when you are stung by a bee. If you do not have enough Vitamin C in your system when you are stung, you are forcing the adrenal glands to make something it cannot make. As the adrenals “frantically” try to make the cortisol, your body may have a systemic reaction: hives or anaphylactic shock.
